"What you Want to Know About Newborn Portrait Sessions"

This is my second blog in the series entitled:

"When to Schedule a Newborn Portrait Session?"

This is a great question.  I like to photograph newborns anywhere between 3 and 7 days old.

There are several reasons:

First, Newborns change so fast and I want to capture the earliest image as possible.
Second, at this age babies sleep very soundly and for a longer period of time.
Third, your newborn is easier to pose within the first week.

You may ask what if I am not able to schedule the newborn session within the first 7 days.  Is it too late?

No, it is not... While I do think the optimum age is 3-7 days old. I understand there may be circumstances where it is not possible to have your newborn session until a later date. One such circumstance is when your baby is pre-mature. If you have a preemie, then we will schedule your session a few days after your little one is released from the hospital, unless your doctor has given you instructions to wait longer. Your baby will still be very small and should have no problems fitting in any props, hats, etc. I might normally use.

If there is another reason other than pre-mature birth, I will definitely be more than happy to schedule your session as soon as possible. Depending on the age of your baby, we may not be able to achieve some of the newborn poses. However, I would still be able to capture some beautiful images of your baby.

I hope this blog has been helpful, and that you will continue to follow me as I post more blogs over the next week.

Please leave your comments or questions below.

My next blog will be: "Safety is my #1 priority in a newborn portrait session”
